When you get right down to it, celebrities really are just like us.  They eat, they sleep, they use the bathroom...and they kill.

--Here's a list of 12 Celebrities Who Have Killed People . . .

--LAURA BUSH.  In 1963, when she was 17, Laura ran a stop sign and hit another car, killing its driver.  The victim was a close friend and classmate named Michael Dutton Douglas.  Laura was not charged.

--Author WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS.  Burroughs shot and killed his common-law wife, Joan Vollmer Adams, in Mexico in 1951.  He claimed it was a drunken accident.  He eventually fled Mexico and was convicted in absentia of homicide.

--Boxing promoter DON KING.  Back when King was an even LESS savory character than he is now, he killed TWO people.  In 1954, he shot a man in the back, but it was ruled a justifiable homicide, because the guy was trying to rob him. Then in 1966, King stomped an employee to death because the guy owed him 600 bucks.  King served less than four years for that one.

--ROBERT BLAKE and O.J. SIMPSON.  Blake and O.J. were both accused of killing their wives . . . or, in O.J.'s case, his EX-wife.  But it's kind of a cheat to put these guys on the list, since they were both ACQUITTED.  However, they were both subsequently found LIABLE of their wives' deaths in civil court.

--MATTHEW BRODERICK.  In 1987, Matthew was on vacation with then-girlfriend JENNIFER GREY in Northern Ireland, and they were driving on a country road. Matthew veered his car into the opposite lane and smashed head-on into another car . . . killing a 30-year-old woman and her 63-year-old mother.  Matthew was eventually convicted of careless driving and fined a mere $175.

--BRANDY.  In 2006, Brandy rear-ended a car because she failed to notice it was stopped in front of her.  The resulting three-car accident led to the death of a 38-year-old woman.  Brandy was never charged with anything, due to insufficient evidence. Later investigation proved that Brandy wasn't the only person to blame . . . but still, she ended up reaching out-of-court settlements with the woman's husband, parents and children.

--WHO drummer KEITH MOON.  When hostile patrons started attacking his car outside a pub in England in 1970, Keith tried to flee the scene. Unfortunately he was drunk, and ran over and killed his friend Neil Boland . . . who worked as his driver and bodyguard.  Boland's death was ruled accidental and Keith wasn't charged.

--ADLAI STEVENSON.  In 1912, when he was only 12, the two-time presidential wannabe shot and killed a 16-year-old girl during a party at his house.  He was demonstrating drill technique with a rifle he didn't know was loaded.

--SEX PISTOLS bassist SID VICIOUS.  Sid was accused of stabbing and killing girlfriend NANCY SPUNGEN in 1978.  He never stood trial because he died by accidentally overdosing on heroin that his mother bought him.  (--TRUE.)

--JAYSON WILLIAMS.  Williams, a former NBA star, accidentally killed his limo driver while playing with a shotgun on his front porch in 2002. Last year he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to five years in prison.  He's behind bars as we speak.

--SENATOR TED KENNEDY.  In 1969, a 36-year-old Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge at Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts.  Kennedy escaped the car and left the scene, leaving a passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, to die. He didn't even admit the crime until the car was discovered by fishermen the next day.  He was only convicted of leaving the scene, and got a two-month suspended sentence.

--In my opinion, the most glaring omission is RICK SPRINGFIELD . . . who revealed last year that  he KILLED A MAN IN 'NAM! But I guess this list list is not counting military service.

--Other famous killers include Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, actress Rebecca Gayheart, rapper C-Murder, Phil Spector, Howard Hughes and football player Donte Stallworth.

--This list has write-ups on some of these other celebrity killers.

--And they toss in Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, which is actually kind of brilliant.  After all, Booth WAS a nationally-known theater actor before he shot the president.
