TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – If you’re having challenges trying to stop smoking, you’re not alone. It’s a tough habit to break. The good news: there is help.

Several classes aimed to help smokers quite the addiction are scheduled this spring in the Magic and Wood River valleys.

South Central Public Health District is partnering with the Wellness Tree Community Clinic and St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center to provide the “Freedom from Smoking” classes.

“Our classes are specifically designed to help those who wish to get rid of their tobacco addiction and take back control of their health,” Cody Orchard, SCPHD education specialist, said in a prepared statement by the health district.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tobacco use is “the single most preventable cause of death and disease” in the U.S., accounting for more than 44,000 deaths every year. Another 8.6 million people live with illness associated with smoking and other forms of tobacco use.

The upcoming classes are offered at no cost to participants. To register, call Orchard at 737-5968.
