PROVO, Utah (AP) — A young woman at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Training Center in Provo found a bat in her bunk, forcing the church to relocate about 600 female LDS missionaries to nearby areas as a precaution against rabies.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that LDS Church spokesman Eric Hawkins says the woman and her roommates are taking preventative treatments for rabies. Bats are the most common carrier of the disease in Utah.

Other women have been moved from their rooms on the south side of the training campus near Brigham Young University to nearby locations so pest control can handle the bat problem. Mormon missionaries are taught at more than a dozen training centers around the world where they receive religious instruction and language training.
