TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- A Buhl man is behind bars accused of knocking out a police officer early Tuesday morning. According to court documents, several Twin Falls police officers responded to a report of a man that seemed to be intoxicated walking along Washington St. in the northern part of the city at around 1:20 in the morning. A man had reported to police a guy had jumped in front of his car. Police found Bo W. Vandenberg, 23, of Buhl, Idaho, walking along the street.

One officer in court documents said when he pulled up to help, he watched Vandenberg swinging his fists at the responding officer. The suspect then ran into the street towards the median and then turned around and attacked the officer chasing him. The officer then tackled Vandenberg in the median. Vandenberg punched the officer knocking him out and fell into the street. Police said the officer was out for seven to ten seconds.

Police then used a taser on Vandenberg who continued to resist and not follow instructions. Eventually, officers were able to handcuff the man and take him to the hospital to be checked out. Police say Vandenberg then spit on an officer while at the hospital. Vandenberg now faces charges of felony battery on an officer, misdemeanor battery on an officer and intoxicated pedestrian.
