UPDATE, 4:36 p.m.: Idaho State Police released more information about the fatal crash that happened Monday morning near Castleford.

A 24-year-old Buhl woman, Claudia Padilla Valdez was driving eastbound on 3800 North in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Scott Waller, 56, also of Buhl, was driving southbound on 1000 East in a Peterbuilt semi pulling a trailer.

Padilla Valdez failed to yield at the stop sign and entered the intersection, where her vehicle was struck on the driver's side by the semi. Both vehicles came to rest on the southeast corner of the intersection. The semi came to rest on its side.

Waller was taken by air ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Padilla Valdez succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Next of kin have been notified.

Padilla Valdez was wearing a seat belt, according to ISP. Waller was not wearing a seat belt.

Roads were blocked for about four hours.

CASTLEFORD, Idaho (KLIX) – One person is dead after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi on Monday morning west of Buhl.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. near the intersection of 1000 East and 3800 North, according to Idaho State Police.

At a little before noon, an ISP dispatcher said emergency crews were still at the scene.
