TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) - According to Idaho State Police the Perrine Bridge is closed because of multiple crashes.

Traffic in both directions is shut down at this time. Drivers who attempt to cross the bridge will be turned away. Large trucks are encouraged to use caution as they travel today.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the Western Magic Valley and Southern Twin Falls area until 6:00 p.m. this evening. Drivers are advised to exercise caution while traveling, as gusts can reach as high as 60 mph.

Those traveling in high-profile vehicles or trucks with empty trailers should exercise extreme caution.

3:14 PM MTN UPDATE: The Twin Falls Police announced that the Perrine Bridge is once again open to traffic. They encourage trucks to use an alternate route until the wind warning expires and will not be allowed to cross the Perrine Bridge.

The Hansen Bridge remains closed at this time. The ITD estimates that the Hansen Bridge will re-open around 5pm tonight.

2:45 PM MTN UPDATE: The Idaho Transportation Department reports that once the Perrine Bridge is opened, large trucks will not be allowed to cross the Perrine Bridge. Tow truck towing semi at Filmore & Blue Lakes has been cleared. At the current time, the Perrine Bridge is still closed.

2:32 PM MTN UPDATE: Trucks upright. As towtuck pulled away with semi chain broke. Now wrecked semi in middle of intersection of Filmore and Blue Lakes.

1:10 PM MTN UPDATE: Crews are currently removing both semi-trucks from the Perrine Bridge using tow trucks, pulling the semis on their sides.  The semi-trucks are almost completely removed from the bridge, however clean up crews will continue to clean up the area.  No word yet from ISP if the bridge will open after the crash has been cleared.

12:35 PM MTN UPDATE: According to our on-scene reporter there are currently two semi-trucks turned over on the Perrine Bridge.  One semi in the northbound lanes and one semi in the southbound lanes.  Officials expect the Perrine Bridge to be closed down for quite some time in order to clean up the accident.  Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and go through Buhl or Murtaugh instead.  Also, winds are particularly bad near and on the Perrine Bridge.
