TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Twin Falls County sheriff deputies responded to a call from a resident Thursday morning saying a car had crashed into Rock Creek Canyon.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m., according to the sheriff's department, but it didn't receive the call from a nearby resident until a little after 9 a.m. The caller had heard the crash earlier that morning and later noticed the car in the canyon.

The investigation shows the car hit a sign on Borah Avenue West, came back on the roadway, and then failed to maneuver a curve. The car went down a steep embankment and lodged among trees.

The driver, who has since been identified as 18-year-old Twin Falls resident Aaron A. Epperson, was not at the scene when deputies arrived. Epperson was cited with failure to report a crash involving damage to private property, according to the sheriff’s office, and failure to provide proof of insurance.
