[UPDATE] Did We Forget About The American Revolution

So the world is once again excited about the royal couple Will and Kate...and their new baby boy! While I was talking about this with my wife my son made a good point. He said "If they are in England then why are we excited for them? Didn't we fight a big war with them?"

That is our school system at work. I was actually pretty proud of the kid for making the connection between the stories. We did fight an extremely vicious war against the British and their Monarchy ways. I had to explain to him that sometimes people fight and then become best friends. That part he understood.

But it did get me thinking though - why do we really care about this kid? He's now the 3rd in line to the throne after bumping uncle Harry down a notch...but why does that matter? What is our obsession with this couple?
