LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho (KLIX) – A bull moose was shot and left to die on private property last week south of Fish Creek Summit near Lava Hot Springs.

Officers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking information about the incident, which likely occurred on the evening of Oct. 14 or the morning of Oct. 15.

Landowners found the moose alive and immediately called Fish and Game, according to information from the department, but the moose died before officers arrived. The moose had been shot twice, including once in the skull cavity.

Later, officers salvaged and donated the meat.
