SHOSHONE, Idaho (KLIX) Firefighters are working to contain a fire burning near the city of Shoshone that flared up overnight that is threatening structures.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, the Lagoon Fire was first reported at around midnight two miles west of town. The fire burn area is estimated at this time at about 700 acres and is burning brush and grass in rocky terrain making it difficult for firefighters to access.

Right now, the North Butte Rangeland Fire Protection Association, five Twin Falls District BLM engine, one Sawtooth National Forest hand crew, one bulldozer and a number of aircraft are working the fire. More resources have been called in to help.

Meanwhile, the Antelope Valley Fire at the base of the South Hills south of Murtaugh burned less than originally estimated at only 68 acres. Full control of this blaze is expected tomorrow afternoon. The cause is still undetermined.
