The economy is still rough, so thinking about a career change is a scary thought. Here's a good hypothetical to think about...and maybe put your entire career path in perspective.

There's something called the "Walk Away Number" - that's the amount of money it would take for you to quit your job on the spot, with nothing new lined up in its place.  So what would your Walk Away Number be and why? There's no right answer, but when you think about it and answer honestly, it can give you some serious insight into what you really want out of life. For some people, it would just be enough money to cover bills for a year or so until they find a better job.  Other people want enough money to start a business, and some people want enough to take a two-year vacation. In a completely unscientific poll, Yahoo asked a few people what their Walk Away Numbers would be.  They heard numbers as low as $47,000 from a 24-year-old Starbucks barista, to $750,000 from a 54-year-old marketing consultant.
