SHOSHONE, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Transportation Department will hold a workshop on May 24 at its regional office in Shoshone to discuss the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).

The department is seeking applications for federal TAP grant funds to help grow alternative transportation projects in the state. According to an ITD news release on Thursday, such projects should have an emphasis on safety, mobility and economic opportunity.

The types of projects the department is looking for include pedestrian and bicycle facilities, those that enhance access to public transportation, and "Safe Routes to School" educational projects.

Among other topics, the May workshop – held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the conference room at the Shoshone office, 216 S. Date Street – will include eligible projects and sponsors, the TAP manual and applications.
