JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)- Criminal charges were filed Monday against an Idaho State Brand Inspector who has resigned from the position in Jerome.

According to Idaho State Police the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office charged Justin Archer, 32 of Kimberly, with two felonies: grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft.

ISP says Archer was charged along with Georgiana Zamora of Jerome who is facing the same charges. Authorities say Zamora allegedly wrote a check from money held from cattle sales from her employer to Archer. Both Archer and Zamora are accused of splitting the check between themselves.

ISP says the check had nothing to do with Archer’s job as a brand inspector.  Zamora’s employer discovered the misappropriated money last week. The case was then handed over to the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office.

ISP said the Idaho State Brand Inspector expects all employees to obey all laws and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity both on and off duty. The inspector’s office is cooperating with authorities.
