Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - A Jerome City Police officer was injured after being struck in the face by a man who ended up being charged with DUI.

It all started in the 100 block of West A Street around 2:26 P.M. in Jerome Monday afternoon. Police say the driver of a white pickup refused to get out of the vehicle following a traffic stop. The Jerome Fire department responded to the scene and unlocked the door.

When police began to remove the driver from the truck, he became confrontational striking a Jerome Police officer in the face.  William Mark Walters, 62 of Jerome has been charged with Driving while under the influence, Obstruction or Delay of an Officer and for having an open container of Alcohol in a vehicle.  The officer was treated for his injuries.
