BOISE, Idaho (Press Release)- Celebrating the many benefits of bicycling and walking, Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter will sign a proclamation declaring the month of May “Idaho’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety and Awareness Month.”

The signing event is open to the public and will be held Thursday, May 26, at 2:30 p.m. on the capitol building steps facing Jefferson Street in Boise.

Speakers will include Gov. Otter, First Lady Lori Otter, Idaho Transportation Department Chief Deputy Scott Stokes, and representatives from the Boise Bicycle Project and the YMCA Safe Routes to School Program.

ITD's Office of Highway Safety will have experts on hand showing how to properly adjust bicycle helmets, handing out flashing safety reflectors, and providing free helmets for children.
