JEROME (Times News) - A 9-year-old Jerome girl died the morning of Oct. 25 after being kicked by a horse, Jerome County Sheriff Doug McFall said.

A service for Kinsey Mae Smith is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship,

"It's a tragic accident," McFall said. "She had been out feeding the horses."

McFall said Kinsey's father, Brian Smith, is a cousin of a Jerome County sheriff's deputy, so city police completed the report on the accident.

Kinsey is also survived by her mother, Clover Smith, an older sister, Taylor, and a younger brother, Brock.

Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canyonside Christian School, 820 Nez Perce, Jerome, ID 83338.
