BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Two Republican candidates who lost elections to Democrats earlier this month in northern Idaho have requested recounts.

The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1x4ijRV) that state Rep. Thyra Stevenson of Lewiston and Mike Kingsley recently filed the requests with the Idaho Attorney General's Office.

The recounts are for the 33 precincts in Nez Perce County for the two District 6 legislative races.

Stevenson lost to Dan Rudolph by 26 votes. Meanwhile, Kingsley lost to House Minority Leader John Rusche by 48 votes.

Deputy Attorney General Mike Gilmore and Chief Deputy Secretary of State Tim Hurst plan to do the recount next week.

Officials say a computer disk problem led workers to enter results manually on election day, but after the computer problem was solved it came up with identical results.
