COOLIN, Idaho (KLIX) – Police have released the name of the man shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies while they attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant on Tuesday in the small community of Coolin.

Idaho State Police said on Wednesday that the man was 50-year-old Bonner County resident Craig A. Johnson.

Deputies went to a residence in the community of Coolin to issue the arrest warrant to the man when they noticed that Johnson was armed and “exhibited hostile behavior,” ISP said, which led to the deputies discharging their firearms.

Johnson was given medical treatment and was being taken to the hospital when he died.

The incident is being investigated by Idaho State Police, assisted by North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force.
