I am a dad (against the advice of my college counselors) to 4 kids, and it can be a challenge to get one on one time with all of them. It is nice to go out on daddy daughter dates, or mother and son activities - but in a group setting are those kinds of activities discriminatory? In Rhode Island, a school district has banned its traditional father/Daughter dance because they discriminate against kids with single mothers.  Apparently a single mother complained to the ACLU that her daughter couldn't go to the dance.  And under Rhode Island state law, that's classified as illegal discrimination.

I see where the problem is, and I agree that it must be hard for the child, but is it fair to cancel the event for all kids because of a single parent child?
