I've never exactly understood the point of homework over Christmas break but I'm open to a good explanation.

If you're one of "those teachers," I respect your right to do your job as you see fit. But don't be surprised if you're not on my gift-list.

I've never exactly understood why students are assigned homework over Christmas break. Now, I'm not talking about unfinished assignments that need to be wrapped up over break. I'm talking about assignments specifically given with the intention of them being worked on over the holiday.

I hated those assignments when I was a kid and I hate them now. I thought the whole point of a vacation was to unplug for a couple of weeks, right?

If you're one of "those teachers," I respect your right to do your job as you see fit. But don't be surprised if you're not on my gift-list.

Maybe you can explain why some teachers give homework assignments over Christmas vacation? I welcome a discussion and perhaps there's a good reason for it.
