MINIDOKA, Idaho (KLIX) – One person died and several were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash that happened a little after 11 a.m. Thursday.

According to Idaho State Police, the person who died in the rollover was a minor.

The incident happened near milepost 201 on Interstate 84. Stephen F. Afuvai, 18, of Puyallup, Wash., was driving eastbound on I-84 in a 2000 Volkswagon Jetta, when he rolled the vehicle through the median, according to ISP. The vehicle came to rest in the westbound lanes of travel.

Afuvai and a juvenile passenger were taken by ground ambulance to Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

Two other minor passengers also were in the vehicle, one who died of injuries at at the crash site, according to ISP. The other passenger was taken by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

The westbound lanes of travel were blocked for about two hours as crews cleared the crash site.

ISP says none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts.
