Transportation Plan, City Hall Project Topics of City Council Meeting

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Among the topics to be discussed at this evening’s Twin Falls City Council meeting is the 2016 Transportation Master Plan.

City Engineer Jacqueline Fields will present to the council the proposed plan that will conduct capacity analysis, review accident data and existing planning documents, and include public input.

Among other issues, the plan addresses pedestrian accessibility, location of truck routes, and a bicycle plan.

"These discussions could result in recommendations for more formal policies or Code that support ‘complete streets,'" information from the agenda packet reads. “Addressing these issues, together with the City’s capacity needs may have a measurable impact on the width of the city rights-of-way streets."

The city says it plans to use mobile survey tools to assist in gathering input.

"We have begun planning for the time when the City will be included in a Metropolitan Planning Organization," the packet continues. The "planning efforts will include preparatory work to facilitate the transition when it occurs."

The City Council also will hear an update on the City Hall and Public Safety Complex at this evening's meeting, including cost estimates, progress of projects, and what’s next for the projects.
