Twin Falls Deputy Saves Newborn’s Life
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) A southern Idaho deputy is being credited with saving the life of a newborn after the umbilical cord became wrapped around the neck in late January. The Twin Falls County Sheriff, Tom Carter, awarded the Life Saving Award to Sergeant Chris Hogan after responding to call of a infant that had been prematurely born at home in Gooding County. Sergeant Hogan had been assisting Gooding County at the time. The sheriff's office says when the deputy arrived at around 5 a.m. on the 19 he unwrapped the umbilical cord from the child's neck and noticed the baby boy was blue and not responding to being touched. Sergeant Hogan began neonatal CPR to get the child breathing. Eventually, the deputy could feel a heartbeat and the baby began to breathe. The boy and mother were taken to the hospital and are doing well. Sgt. Hogan has been with Twin Falls County for eight and a half years.
