12:18 pm | Jan. 16: The National Weather Service in Boise has allowed the Winter Weather Advisory to expire. Rain and snow is still falling around the Magic Valley, but most travel difficulties have been resolved.


The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow in the Boise Mountains and western Magic Valley. The advisory is in effect until 3 pm this afternoon (Jan. 16).

  • Snow Amounts: 2 to 4 inches in lower elevations, with 4 to 8 inches above 6000 feet in the Boise Mountains.
  • Impacts: Difficult travel with low visibility in snow and slick snow-covered roads.

Precautionary / Preparedness Actions

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will primarily cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
