Buhl, Gooding and Twin Falls Airports Awarded Federal Grants for Infrastructure Improvement

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-Three Magic Valley airports are recipients of federal grants to make runway improvements along with other upgrades to their facilities.

Friday morning the Federal Aviation Administration announced the Department of Transportation will hand out $8.2 million dollars in airport infrastructure grants to five Idaho airports, three of of them in the Magic Valley include the Buhl Municipal Airport, Gooding Municipal Airport and Joslin Field Magic Valley Regional Airport.

The grants come as part of the Airport Improvement Program and will award $630,000 to the Buhl airport to build a taxiway and $270,000 to repair a taxiway. Gooding airport will get $300,000 to build a taxiway and $1 million grant to extend the runway. Lastly, the Twin Falls airport gets $2.5 million to build a taxiway.

The other Idaho airports to get the federal grants include Lemhi County Airport in Salmon to build a new apron (the area were planes are parked) and rebuild a current apron. Pocatello Regional Airport will also get money to repair an apron. Thousands of airports across the United States are receiving part of a $485 million being spent on airports.
