‘Field of Dreams’ Property in Iowa Sold, Will Be Preserved
The baseball diamond immortalized in the 1989 film ‘Field of Dreams’ is being sold, but it will remain intact, thanks to Go the Distance Baseball LLC, which will turn the Dyersville, Iowa, property into a baseball and softball complex.
Current owners Don and Becky Lansing did not disclose the purchase price, but it was put on the market for over $5 million in May 2010. The Lansings are just happy the field will be preserved.
“We worked hard to maintain its wholesome allure, and our success says a lot about our nation’s love affair with its national pastime,” Becky Lansing said. “It truly is a special place.”
The site has been a popular tourist destination over the past decades. Because of this tradition, the land is now worth a great deal more.
