ISP reports that the crash happened on December 1st, around 2:45 PM on State Highway 28 near mile marker 76 east of Gilmore. Only one vehicle and one occupant were involved in the accident.

  • A gray 2001 Chrysler Pt Cruiser was driven by a 40-year-old male out of Salmon, Idaho.
  • The Pt Cruiser was heading eastbound on State Highway 28 when it swerved to the left and crossed both lanes of travel.
  • The vehicle then traveled up a slight embankment and overturned, coming to a final resting position on its top on the left side of the roadway.

The driver passed away in the crash and Idaho State Police is investigating the accident. According to Idaho 511, there is a camera view of the highway in that area of the Gilmore Summit and it shows moisture on the road, which could mean ice or snow was a factor in the incident.

ISP also reported 2 non-fatal accidents over the long Thanksgiving weekend, both of them involved semi-trucks. One of the trucks hit a concrete barrier and the other left the highway into a field and caught fire.
