It is the flu season and the virus is running rampant through the Magic Valley and beyond. Honestly - we are always looking for excuses not to go to work and then when we get sick, which is the ultimate excuse, what do we do? We go to work?! The one time we really shouldn't go to work for our own benefit and for those we work with...we go in. Maybe this bit of knowledge will help you make the right decision.

According to a new study by the University of Arizona, when you go to work sick, your germs infect everything. If one person goes to work sick, the risk of their coworkers getting sick increases by 40% to 90%.  In just four hours the infected germs cover half of the commonly touched surfaces in the office. That included the coffee pot, desks, and elevator buttons.  That means if you go to work sick, you'll spread your germs to half the office by lunch, and by the end of the day, 70% of the office surfaces will be contaminated by the virus.

Point - stay home if you are sick! Or if you really feel you need to leave your house, go visit St. Lukes.
