Idaho Is In The Bottom For Getting Vaccinated

Of all 50 states Idaho is in the bottom half for the amount of people that get vaccinated. The system is split between children and teens in one category and adults and elderly in the other. Here is what the study suggests.

According to this study, Idaho ranks 27th in getting children and teens vaccinated but they rank 38th for adults and elderly. Those vaccinations include polio, tetanus, flu and more.

The study breaks it down to flu vaccine rates from children 6 month to 17 years, teenagers 13 to 17 with up to date HPV vaccinations, 13 to 17 year old men with ACWY vaccination, flu vaccines in adults, Tetanus vaccines in adults, adults over 60 with Zoster vaccination and mixed that with things like access to health care and poverty rates. Idaho is one of the lowest influenza vaccinations for children aged 6 months to 17 years old ranking 48th. The only states that have a lower flu vaccination rate are Utah, Florida  and Wyoming. (There are 51 including the District of Columbia). The state that vaccinates the most 6 month to 17 year olds is Rhode Island.

Idaho and neighboring states are pretty low on getting vaccinations. California is ranked 40th, Wyoming is down at 42, Nevada is down to 45 and Arizona is 46. Coming in last is Mississippi.

The top states that get the most immunizations are Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and North Dakota. Massachusetts has the most children and teenagers immunized and Vermont has the most adult and elderly vaccinations.
