Idaho State Capitol Lighting Up Christmas Tree
The Idaho State Capitol in Boise will be lighting up their Christmas tree tonight, December 2, 2019.
The tree lighting is set to take place at 5:30 p.m. outside the Capitol on the Idaho Statehouse steps and anyone is welcome to attend. There will be music from Idaho's 25th Army Band and Meridian's Cecil D. Andrus Elementary School's Andrus Ambassador Honor Choir.
If you get the chance, I also recommend checking out the decorations inside the building. Unlike other states that I know of (specifically Iowa), Idaho doesn't have any sort of security you need to go through to get into the building. Plus, there are some great places to take family photos. On Saturday many people were in the building to get their Christmas card photos taken.
The event tonight could bring a bigger crowd than usual, as a 45-foot tree toppled down in downtown Boise before a tree lighting ceremony was set to take place last weekend.
The ceremony, which was supposed to take place on Black Friday at the Grove Plaza, obviously didn't happen.
The Downtown Boise Association said they'd be announcing the new date for a tree lighting at a later date. Until then, you are again invited by Gov. Brad Little to the tree lighting ceremony at the Capitol tonight.
