Many people hate going to the dentist, and there are those who refuse to go as adults. Perhaps your parents made you go as a child, but once you become an adult, you refuse to go because of how much you hate it, or because of how much dental care costs. We all have met people who lack teeth, and of course, some have the perfect white smile as well. Going to the dentist is good for your teeth, your heart, and your overall health, and it is recommended that you go at least once or twice a year. When it comes to living in Idaho, how does dental care compare to the rest of the states, and which states have the best and worst dental health?

Taking care of your teeth is important, and despite how much people don't like the dentist, it is best to suck it up and go at least once a year, and preferably twice. The state you live in can dictate how good your health care is, and WalletHub recently released a list ranking the best and worst states for dental health. They ranked them using a couple of categories, such as dental habits and care, and oral health. Using these criteria, it was determined that the best state for dental health is Illinois, with Minnesota being second, and Wisconsin rounding out the top three. The worst state for dental health is Mississippi, with West Virginia being the second worst, and Arkansas rounding out the bottom three. When it comes to dental health and care, how does Idaho compare to the rest of the states, and where does it fall on the list?

While some may joke that Idaho is full of rednecks and people here are missing some of their teeth, this study says otherwise. According to the study, Idaho is the fifth best state in the country when it comes to dental health, ranking number one in dental habits and care, and twelfth in oral health. Idaho is second in percentage of adolescents that visited the dentist in the last year, ranks fourth lowest in sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, and is tied fifth lowest in percentage of adults with low life satisfaction due to an oral condition.

Despite what some may think, living in Idaho may actually give you better teeth than in most states. So long as you visit the dentist regularly, you should have a nice mouth full of pearly whites. To check out the full study, make sure to click the link in the second paragraph above.
