Fishing season is well underway in Idaho. May is the time of year when a very famous actor usually pops up on social media with photos of him fishing at various Gem State river sections with massive rainbow trout in hand.

I traded my fishing pole for a kayak years ago. While fishing may not be my preferred way to spend time in the outdoors of Idaho, the hobby is incredibly popular throughout the state. Idaho has some of the best fishing in the country, and a former cast member of Happy Days is well aware of that fact.

Any day now, we should get an update from iconic television and film actor Henry Winkler, unless of course he's taken to fishing in another state following some not too cool online behavior towards him by at least one Idaho resident a couple of years back.

Winkler is a beloved actor who has shown up in such films as The Waterboy, Scream, Nightshift, Click, Here Comes The Boom, and Black Adam. His television credits include Barry, Happy Days ("The Fonz"), Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, and Mork & Mindy.

In 2024, Winkler was harassed online by an Idaho resident over his political views and made to feel unwelcome. It's a shame too, because having personally met and spent time with him, he's one of the most pleasant human beings I've ever had the honor of hanging out with.

His favorite Idaho fishing spot has long been a secret. If I had to guess, Henry's Fork of the Snake River makes perfect sense. That has not been verified, by the way.
