Google searches for ‘best Christmas movies’ increased by 300% in the past month. Not really all that surprising. There’s also a big push for people to not have to buy the movies because the search for ‘best Christmas movies streaming’ had a 130% increase. As we get together for wrapping parties with other parents, or pizza and popcorn with friends, what are Idahoans most likely to agree upon for their Christmas movie entertainment? What movie will Idaho push ‘play’ on most often?

There are the classics like ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ and newcomers like ‘Violent Night.’ Looper has a new list, The Most Popular Christmas Movie in Every State. What way does Idaho lean for the movie preference?

Ha! A classic from the day it was released in 1983, A Christmas Story wins the hearts of viewers in Idaho. Rotten Tomatoes has a strangely equal score for the film at 89% for critics and audience members alike, but this wonderful adaptation from a series of books is beloved not only by Idaho, but Hawaii, and Montana as well.

Somehow, ‘Christmas with the Kranks’ hits at the top of the list. It had only a 5% on Rotten Tomatoes, but managed to top the list. The other movies to beat Idaho’s pick are How the Grinch Stole Christmas! 100 Critics/94 Audience, Four Christmases (for some reason) 25 Critics/47 Audience, and The Santa Clause 73 Critics/66 Audience.

Maybe people watch Christmas with the Kranks and Four Christmases as a joke. If you go from worst to first, it makes the top tier so much better. These choices may or may not have been made after drinking way too much-loaded egg nog.
