Many animals used to roam this earth, but as many of us know, they have gone extinct and will never do so again. Many have dreamed about what it would be like to see some of these creatures that they have read about once again walk this planet, but most have accepted that it is doubtful and impossible. With the advancement of technology, it could be possible one day to bring some of them back from the dead but will it ever happen? For those unaware, it has finally happened, as an animal has been brought back from extinction. Could it soon be roaming Yellowstone National Park shortly?

Dire Wolves Are Back From Extinction

For those that haven't heard the news, science has advanced more than we know, as for the first time an animal has been what is being referenced as 'de-extinct.' For any fan of 'Game of Thrones', you are likely familiar with the dire wolf and may have thought it was only a mythical creature, but they roamed this planet many years ago, but have been extinct for the last 13,000 years. That was until recently, because thanks to Colossal Biosciences the dire wolf has come back, and three currently are alive and well. Colossal Biosciences was able to use a 75,000-year-old scull and a 13,000-year-old tooth to bring back the dire wolf from extinction and currently, there are two males and one female being kept in a secret location with 20 acres to roam. The dire wolves were born in October of 2024. Colossal Biosciences isn't done with just dire wolves though as they also look to bring back the woolly mammoth, the dodo, and the Tasmanian tiger.

Dire Wolves Living in Yellowstone

Currently, the dire wolves are being kept in a top-secret location, as mentioned above, but it is known that this location is somewhere in the Northern United States. By looking at the videos of them, due to snowfall, the trees, and looking in the background, it is assumed they are somewhere in the Northwest, and could potentially be in the Yellowstone area, although this is not confirmed. If dire wolves are reintroduced into the wild at some point, where would they call home? Currently, there is no plan to breed the animals, but they are looking expand the pack and to keep them in preserves on tribal lands. Yellowstone would be an ideal place for them as they would be protected, but it could interfere with other animals in the area, as dire wolves are predators and much bigger than your average wolf.

While it will be some time before a dire wolf is roaming the wild, it is both exciting and terrifying to imagine seeing one roaming the open lands of Yellowstone National Park. For more on the dire wolves returning, make sure to watch the videos and click the links above.
