Time is a funny thing. Sometimes it passes quickly, and sometimes it drags on. The moments you hate the most seem to go slow and leave you wishing time would speed up, and the moments you love leave you wishing it would slow down or stop so you can enjoy the moment more. It also changes throughout the year, which often frustrates many across the globe, especially those in Idaho, Washington, and Utah. It is nearing that time once again. Make sure to change your clocks this month as time will spring forward, and you don't want to be living life an hour behind everyone.

When is the Spring Time Change?

You may have noticed that days are getting longer, as you no longer have to drive home in the dark after work, take your kids to sports in the dark, and can even enjoy some evening time in the backyard before the sun sets. You are about to get even more daylight as this weekend is the dreaded time change. Daylight Saving Time will take place this Sunday, March 8, at 2 AM, as clocks will spring forward one hour, causing everyone to lose an hour of their weekend, of sleep, and likely of joy. The good news is that it means more light in the evenings, warmer weather is around the corner, and more time to enjoy outdoors after work or on the weekends.

Negative Effects of Changing Time

Many are complaining about the clocks changing each spring and fall, and rightfully so. There are some negative side effects when the clocks change. It throws off sleep patterns, can lead to schedule adjustments for a week or two, and can lead to depression as well. For those with children, the time change is extremely tough as it is hard to keep their schedule on time when their body is telling them something different. It is also tough when they have been going to bed while it is dark outside, and now may be going to bed as the sun is still setting, and trying to convince a child to sleep with the sun up is no easy task.

Nobody likes changing clocks, and the good news is that we can all be miserable together this weekend. Make sure to walk around the house Saturday night and change any clocks that need to be manually set, as well as the clock in your vehicles. The saving grace is that phones, computers, smart watches, and many devices change automatically, making it much easier than it used to be.
