What would you do? What would you do as a parent if you were child-free on New Year's Eve? You could go out and have a fun night celebrating with friends. You could perhaps go on a nice date and enjoy it with your partner. You could have a small get-together at your house and host a game night or party, or maybe you do what many of us only dream of, and go to bed and get a full eight hours of sleep or more, and see everybody next year. There are multiple options, and odds are most parents wont be this lucky until their children move out, but if you are the chosen ones, what would you do?

When it comes to celebrating New Year's Eve in Twin Falls there are a few options. You can go out to a nice restaurant and spend it on a date or as a family, or perhaps you go up to Boise to watch the Idaho Potato drop. If watching a potato isn't your preference, you could go to Rupert and watch the beet drop instead. Sometimes spending a night inside by the fire, watching the ball in New York drop is relaxing and beats dealing with crowds. There are many options on how to spend the night welcoming in the new year, but when the kids decide to go do their own thing or a family member takes them for the night, options change, and the decision isn't an easy one.

While most of us will end up spending time with our family at home or going out to dinner, some parents may hit the New Year's Eve jackpot and find themselves kid free this weekend, and deciding how to use this power is a heavy responsibility. If you are often caught up in your children's lives, you may not have had time to see your friends lately or have time to go out and have fun. A night out, especially on New Year's Eve sounds like a great way to celebrate the end of 2022 and have the fun that you want to have for once. As nice as that sounds though, it may be a better option to take advantage of the peace and quiet at home, enjoy some time relaxing and perhaps hit the bed or the couch and let nature take its course. If you see midnight, fantastic, if you don't it wasn't meant to be and you will not regret your decision when you wake up the next year.

As for me, the odds of my kids being out of the house are zero to not going to happen. If my wife and I were blessed with this rare occurrence though, we would enjoy the best of both worlds. Go out and have a nice dinner at a restaurant we wouldn't typically take the kids to, head home after, get comfortable and let fate decide if we enjoy some needed rest or if we make it to midnight. If you are kid free this New Year's Eve weekend what would you do?
