What Would You Do? Wild Animal Walking Through Town in Idaho

What would you do? What would you do if driving down the street in town, you saw a big animal walk across the road or down the sidewalk, stopping traffic? Seeing wild animals in Idaho is not uncommon. Depending on where you live, it is likely that there are plenty of wild animals near your home, and some big ones are likely not too far. Idaho is home to some of the most beautiful natural wilderness in the world, and with it comes some of the most incredible wildlife to see as well. Bears, moose, bald eagles, deer, elk, and more are all roaming around the state, and seeing them can make for a great story, great pictures, or for a great tag if you hunt them. Typically these animals are spotted out in the wild, but from time to time they make their way into town. When a wild animal makes its way into town and decides to take a walk, stopping traffic, what would you do if you were in this situation? 

Animals in Idaho Towns

It happens a few times a year, but larger animals will make their way into town from time to time. It isn't unusual, especially in Southern Idaho, to see a story about a moose in a town, an elk, or perhaps a mountain lion. Typically they are spotted in town, but don't slow down the flow of traffic or bother anyone. Rarely it'll happen, but what do you do in these situations? Do you call your work and tell them you are late due to a moose in the road? Do you call your friends and talk about the elk that won't move? Do you record a video and lock the doors, while watching the mountain lion take an afternoon stroll through town? Do you be an aggressive driver, and drive around it, or take the worst-case scenario and drive through it? It is a tough situation to plan for, and you likely won't know until it happens. 

Animals Holding up Traffic in Idaho

While a moose, an elk, a mountain lion, or some other Idaho animal holding up traffic is likely to happen from time to time, what if you see an animal that isn't so common in the Gem State? Recently, an elephant decided to take a stroll and hold up traffic in Butte, Montana. It isn't every day you see an elephant walking down the street, especially in Montana. Imagine going to run errands or driving to work and seeing an elephant in the Magic Valley, or perhaps a giraffe or a zebra. You would likely think you are in Jumanji, or still asleep. You would want to capture evidence, or nobody may believe you. You might be late to where you are going, which on a normal day would upset most of us, but in this situation, might be worth it to be late to work or an appointment.
