The 30-year anniversary of one of Idaho's oldest missing person cases will arrive shortly after we flip our calendars to October of this year. A young girl completely vanished minutes after being seen by multiple residents at a central Idaho bowling alley in 1993.

The Idaho missing person case of Stephanie Lyn Crane has baffled law enforcement and residents of Challis for close to three decades. Challis is a small community of fewer than 1,000 people and is nestled in the mountains between Salmon and Sun Valley. Crane was just nine years old when she disappeared after visiting the local bowling alley on a fall evening at about dinner time.

Stephanie's profile has been active on multiple state missing person websites including Idaho Cold Cases and Missing and Unsolved. Stephanie had a scar near her right eye when she went missing, and area police believe she was abducted by a stranger who likely offered her a ride, according to information on the Idaho Missing Person Clearinghouse website.

Stephanie would be celebrating her thirty-ninth birthday on September 28. There were numerous people attending a soccer practice nearby where it is thought she might have been walking between 5:30 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. on October 11, 1993. Perhaps someone has recorded footage of the practice and can submit it to local law enforcement.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Stephaine Lyn Crane on October 11, 1993, just outside the Challis Lanes Bowling Alley, please contact the Custer County Sheriff's Office at 208-879-2232.
