Footage from a recent ESPN interview has gone viral after a reigning world champion wrestler totally dismissed the Gem State by resorting to an old stereotype.

Idaho and potatoes. Yes, we're an easy target.

An expression involving a dead horse immediately came to mind Friday morning after champion wrestler Phillip Jack Brooks (aka CM Punk) took shots at a fellow wrestler after mistakenly saying he was born in Idaho.

I was born in Chicago, said Brooks during an ESPN interview on February 27. He was born in Idaho. There’s not much there but potatoes," said the celebrity meathead when addressing the well-known feud between he and fellow wrestler Seth Rollins.

Punk (Brooks) commented on a discussion on ESPN about loyalty to the Chicago Bears. Punk, a native of Illinois, mistakenly identified Rollins as an Idaho native when in fact, he was born in Iowa, one of the other 'I' states.

The remark comes on the eve of the WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, which is taking place at Chicago's United Center. Punk was discussing wrestling during Friday's (February 27) taping of the popular ESPN show 'Get Up,' when he talked smack about one of Idaho's top export crops.

I think I speak for most Idahoans when I say potatoes rock. The world wouldn't have French fries without them.

You're welcome, world.
