Another season of the streaming hit survival reality series 'Alone' recently ended, and once again, a champion from Idaho emerged victorious, instantly becoming wealthy.

'Alone: Africa' just finished streaming its 12th season earlier this month, and a southern Idaho native walked out of the African desert $500,000 richer.

For those not familiar with the series, there are numerous variations of the survival program that air on The History Channel. They all introduce the same concept to the viewing audience, which is who can last the longest with limited supplies in a desolate region of the world.

This season's winner was Buhl native Nathan Olsen. Olsen grew up 16 miles west of Twin Falls and has now become Gem State royalty. He once herded sheep on the family farm, and now has proven himself as a master survivalist.

Olsen is home now and has been doing the television and radio circuit for the past several days since the outcome was revealed on the program, which took place in the Karoo region of southern Africa. Olsen outlasted the other contestants by spending 34 days without a home, his cellphone, or his Costco card.

Crazy, I know!

We want to congratulate Nathan on his incredible accomplishment and for forever cementing himself in the 'Alone' hall of fame.
