One State Has Less Single Mother Households Than Idaho, Data Says
Single parenting is one of the toughest human realities there is. Statistics on single parenting vary throughout the country and the two lowest states in America in terms of households being governed by one parent are both located in the Western United States.
I know what it feels like to be a single parent. I went through a few years of parenting solo shortly after my daughter was born in 2001, and I have the utmost respect for the moms and dads out there who are raising children with little to no help.

Certain states are more single-parent supportive than others. Louisianna (23 percent) and Mississippi (24 percent) have the most single-mother households in the U.S., according to information recently shared on Reddit. South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama also have well-above-average totals compared to other states.
The Reddit data also lists Utah as having the lowest percentage (9 percent) of single-mother homes in the country, with Idaho very close by at 11 percent. March 21 is National Single Parent Day in America, and it's estimated that there are over 15 million children who live with a single mother in the country, according to financesonline.com.
