TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-The Twin Falls City Council approved a lease agreement Monday night for a motocross track on 30 acres of airport property. The Council approved the consent calendar which included an agenda item asking for the approval of a 25-year lease of the Magic Valley Regional Airport property, next to the Magic Valley Speedway, to the Magic Valley MX Club to operate a motocross track. A special use permit was granted by Twin Falls County and a plan was reviewed by the city, airport management, and the Airport Board. According to city documents, staff recommended the request be granted and approved. According to the lease, Magic Valley MX Club will be responsible for the upkeep of the property and must provide public bathroom facilities. The lease allows for the use of a motorcycle track as well as BMX bicycles and all-terrain vehicle racing. The lease term is set between October 2021 and September 2046. Initial rent will cost the club a little more than $3,000 while yearly rent will be roughly $6,100, but will go up slightly every year. A construction date was not included in city documents.
