STANLEY, Idaho (KLIX) Firefighters are working on a lightning sparked fire near a Stanley campground in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area that started Saturday.

According to information from the Sawtooth National Forest the fire, being called the Dry Creek Fire, started at around noon near the Stanley Lake Campground. Officials say several aircraft, fire trucks and firefighters worked to hold back the fire. Over the weekend the estimated size was about 1200 acres.

The fire forced the closure of the campground which is being used at the Incident Command Post. Elk Creek, Trap Creek, Sheep Trail and Park Creek Overlook are also closed because of the Dry Creek Fire. The blaze is being managed by a Type 3 incident team lead by JW McCoy. Highway 21 is still open to Lowman.
