MIDDLETON, Idaho (AP) — A Middleton school bus company has been cited with a misdemeanor in connection to accusations of overcrowding.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the city's police department received multiple complaints of Middleton Bus Co. buses being overcrowded. On Thursday, police cited the company and were told steps were being taken to correct the problem. Police Chief Brian Zimmerman says police will make spot checks of Middleton buses to see if the problem has been resolved.

Middleton Bus Co. manager Steve Vis declined to comment on the situation. The Middleton School District's enrollment increased by more than 150 students for this school year, creating space problems with buses and classrooms.
