Paul McCartney Will Always Make Time for Queen Elizabeth

Fresh off his headlining performance at the Queen’s “Diamond Jubilee” concert, Paul McCartney has some very pleasant things to say about the long-serving royal.

The vocalist told the Daily Telegraph, “She is the rock ‘n’ roll queen. Weirdly enough, that is one of the things her reign will be remembered for. Queen Elizabeth I, we remember Raleigh. Queen Elizabeth II, it’s going to be the Beatles.”

McCartney says that for kids of his generation, the Queen was a very attractive woman who was taking on a huge responsibility. He adds, “She seemed very human. We all felt very proud of her. She’s fabulous. I’ve got a lot of time for her.”

When asked about his ode to the Queen, ‘Her Majesty,’ he replied, “It’s just a cheeky little song. It sort of sums up how things have changed, doesn’t it? You can write songs like that and not even get sent to the Tower.”

McCartney added that he’s fine with the royals being in power, adding, “I totally understand the republican point of view, but then I think if they got rid of the royals, who are you gonna replace them with? A politician? I’m not sure that would be an improvement.”
