Senator Crapo Eyes Deficit Reduction Again
With the Super Committee failing to come to a deficit-reduction agreement a few days ago, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo said it’s more important than ever for the rest of Congress to cut the country’s deficit themselves.
Crapo wants to cut about $4 trillion over the next 10 years, and said that can’t happen without tax reform. He stressed that that isn’t just raising taxes. Crapo also said, the $1.2 trillion the Super Committee was supposed to cut will still get chopped. Now, it will happen automatically thanks to a built-in fail-safe. That fail-safe measure can still be challenged by members of Congress though.
