What does it take when you move to a new state before you are considered to belong? When you go somewhere and get asked where are you from, and you mention the city you live in, not the state you moved from?
Bring on the stereotypes and the fun. I found a post from House Beautiful called "What the State You Grew Up in Says About You." I am someone who has moved a round a bit as an adult and wanted to know what each state that I have lived in had to say, ending of course with the great state of Idaho.
Idaho, The Gem State, Home. Whatever you call it, there is no question that it is a very special state. Idahoans, especially natives know these things to their core and sometimes get annoyed when it has to be explained over and over to non-Idahoans.
When I first moved here I learned that Idahoans say things differently and have their own lingo. If you want to sound like a native Idahoan and not be pegged as an "outsider" there are some words you should learn.
