I have never really seen anything like it before. The leaves on the new growth in the South Hills appear shiny and almost wet. It first glance they almost look like they are fake plants you would get from a craft store.
The Badger Fire last year took out a lot of beauty and campgrounds in the South Hills. Thankfully, Piney Cabin was able to survive the devastating fire. I decided to go check it out this weekend and it remains in great shape.
It was awful when the South Hills burned during the Badger Fire. Some of my favorite camp sites like Father and Sons and Bostetter are not really a thing anymore. Thankfully, the Hummingbird Sanctuary is still flourishing and it is a place you need to go this summer.
