Apparently, as a parent in the Magic Valley it isn’t enough to give your kids a roof and food – even with all of our technology we still have to pay attention to them! If you don’t, then your kid may very well injure themselves. Obviously we already know that our kids need our attention and need to be nurtured, but it would appear that it isn't happening like it should be. I can't believe I'm about to use this phrase . . . but apparently you need to stop TEXTING WHILE PARENTING.  Yes, texting while parenting is now a 'thing.'

According to the CDC, between 2007 and 2010, there was a sudden and significant spike in child injuries in the U.S.  Injuries went up 12% after dropping for a decade before . . . and steadily dropping since the 1970s.

And they think it's too coincidental that kids started getting injured all over the place right after the iPhone debuted, and ushered in the smartphone era.

Of course, there aren't any actual statistics to back up the idea that texting parents are responsible for the spike in injuries.  But when's the last time that stopped someone from coining a stupid phrase like "texting while parenting"?

And it does seem plausible, even without hard evidence.

But child injury experts say there's one other possible reason for the increase in injuries:  Today's parents have gotten more overprotective than EVER and are taking their kids to emergency rooms more often than parents used to.

What do you think – it the spike in injuries from inattentive parenting or over attentive parenting?
