The Eugene Ballet in The Nutcracker

Kick off your holiday season with a timeless classic – the Nutcracker Ballet, an annual tradition for families around the world. With its imaginative story line, colorful sets, dazzling costumes and magical dancing, Tchaikovsky''s Nutcracker is a Christmas treat not to be missed! The Eugene Ballet offers up this colorful confection complete with Sugar Plum Fairies, magical mice, toys that come to life and more. Follow the dancers as they shed the confines of the theater and bring "The Nutcracker" to life in Twin Falls. This performance also features the talents of 50 local children in such clever disguises as Baby Mice, Angels, and Flowers. Fans of this holiday favorite will enjoy this magnificent show. Tickets are $15 for students and children and $21 for adults and can be obtained by calling 732-6288.

New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656

As the Inquisition bears down on them, a small Jewish community flees Portugal to find a tenuous peace in seemingly liberal Amsterdam. But Spinoza, a favorite son of the community and the rabbi's heir apparent, is a revolutionary thinker. When the boldness of his ideas strains the bounds of Amsterdam's professed tolerance, it leads to a dangerous confrontation between powerful political forces and his own beloved community. Based on true events in the life of one of the greatest philosophers in history, this recent off-Broadway hit from playwright David Ives challenges traditional political and religious thinking with conviction, passion, and wit.  Tickets are $8/adults and $6 for students or seniors. Handel’s Messiah

The CSI Chamber Choir and the Magic Valley Chorale, accompanied by the Magic Valley Chamber Orchestra will present Handel's Messiah Part I and the Hallelujah Chorus.  Admissions are: $18.00 per adult; $8.00 per seniors and $5.00 per student.  Tickets will be available at the CSI box office.

CSI Jazz Ensemble Concert

This semesters jazz concert will feature the members of the CSI jazz band in several different settings. There will be several different groups performing, and a wide variety of styles from swing, to be-bop, to latin.  Admission is free with a suggested donation to the CSI Music Department Scholarship Fund at the door.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

The Random Acts of Theatre Players proudly present “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Dale Wasserman, based on the book by Ken Kesey.  Randle McMurphy is a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake. He clashes instantly with the formidable head nurse, Nurse Ratched. Quickly, he takes over the yard and accomplishes what the medical profession has been unable to do for twelve years; he makes a presumed deaf and dumb Indian talk. He leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor and chippies. For one offense, the head nurse has him submit to shock treatment. The party is too horrid for her and she forces him to submit to a final correction. You will never see another show like this one! The Little Mermaid, Jr

Based on Disney’s hit movie and Broadway show The Little Mermaid.  The Magic Valley School of the Performing Arts promises to deliver crazy sea creatures, lovable princes, and a night of family fun.  $8 for the first week (featuring the younger cast) and $10 for the second week (featuring the older cast).  Tickets can be purchased at the Twin Falls Reformed Church, from any cast member, and at the door.

In a small, remote, mountaintop primary school in the Kenyan bush, hundreds of children are jostling for a chance for the free education newly promised by the Kenyan government. He fought for the liberation of his country and now feels he must have the chance at the education so long denied—even if it means sitting in a classroom alongside six-year-old children. Paco Peña: Flamenco Vivo!

Paco Peña embodies both authenticity and innovation in flamenco. As guitarist, composer, dramatist, and producer, he has transformed perceptions of this archetypal Spanish art form. Born in the Andalucian city of Córdoba, Peña began learning guitar from his brother at the age of six and made his first professional appearance at the age of 12.  In the late 1960s, he left Spain for London, where his electrifying recitals of flamenco music captured the public imagination. Since 1970, Peña has performed regularly with his own hand-picked company in a succession of groundbreaking shows. In 1995, The New York Times declared that: “Mr. Peña is a virtuoso, capable of dazzling an audience beyond the frets of mortal man. He combines rapid-fire flourishes with a colorist’s sense of shading; this listener cannot recall hearing any guitarist with a more assured mastery of his instrument.“ It should come as no surprise that readers of America’ s Guitar magazine judged Paco Peña Best Flamenco Guitarist of the Year for five consecutive years.  In his latest show, Flamenco Vivo, Peña and his talented dancers, singers and musicians bring to life the intoxicating rhythms, colors and sounds of Andalucía as they fill the stage with bursts of glorious improvisation and virtuoso flamenco technique.  Flamenco Vivo also looks back to the most primitive and pure forms of this captivating art and pays respect to the legacy this tradition has left us.

Based on actual events, this film recounts the remarkable tale of Latif Yahia, an Iraqi army lieutenant who was summoned to Saddam Hussein's palace in 1987 and ordered to become the fiday, or body double, of his notorious eldest son, Uday. Many of his countrymen might have considered this a great honor, but it was merely the beginning of a hellish nightmare for Latif. Annie Hall chronicles the ups and downs of obsessive, neurotic, NY comedian Alvy Singer’s (Woody Allen) relationship with Midwest ditz Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) in 1970s socialite Manhattan. Saint Joan

George Bernard Shaw’s “Saint Joan” is a tempestuous retelling of the mighty tale of Joan of Arc, the young girl who led the armies of King Charles of France against the British occupiers and their collaborators in the great wars of the 1400s in France. Believing she is chosen by God, Joan rallies her armies to victory until she is finally taken by the Burundians and sold to the British to go to trial for sorcery and heresy. Listening only to the voices of her beloved Saints, Joan stands against the bureaucracy of the Holy Inquisition of the Catholic Church, confessing, and then recanting her guilt as a heretic just before she is put to the flames.  Tickets are $8/adults and $6 for students or seniors. The Michael Kaeshammer Trio

Michael Kaeshammer is a triple-threat combo of piano virtuosity, vocal ability, and charisma. When he performs, it’s obvious he’s having a ball, playing high-octane boogie-woogie, blues, standards, jazz, R&B, and pop.  Known for dazzling speed and delicate tickling of the ivories, Kaeshammer was trained in the classical piano, but after hearing the boogie-woogie and stride piano for the first time at age 13, his devotion quickly changed as he found his passion in the upbeat style of jazz (comparable to blues and ragtime).  In three years, the teen wunderkind was playing boogie-woogie piano in clubs, concerts, and festivals all over Germany. He attracted attention almost immediately after the family moved to the west coast of Canada, turning heads at performances at blues and jazz festivals.  Now a consummate entertainer with a droll but quick-witted onstage banter, Michael continues to surprise audiences and inspire awe with his elaborate arrangements and improvisations.  Kaeshammer’s masterful sounds have garnered international music acclaim, highlighted by two JUNO Award nominations and West Coast Music Awards for Male Artist of the Year, Performer of the Year and Musician of the Year. The Claire Lynch Band

Long recognized and praised as a creative force in acoustic music, Claire Lynch is a pioneer who continually pushes the boundaries of the bluegrass genre.  Over a 30-plus year career, Lynch has become one of the greatest vocalists in modern bluegrass, and one of the best songwriters as well.  Blazing her own trail in the mid 70′s when there were few role models for a young woman in the genre, Claire Lynch made history when she led the Front Porch String Band, which evolved in the 80’s and 90’s into “one of the sharpest and most exciting post-modern bluegrass bands on the circuit.”  She formed her own Claire Lynch Band in 2005.  By any measure, the Claire Lynch Band is at the top of the bluegrass world's A-List, with musicians whose accolades include International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year and two Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album (Claire); Canadian Open Mandolin Championship and Florida State Championship on both fiddle and mandolin (Jason Thomas); the MerleFest Doc Watson Guitar Champion (Matt Wingate) and two IBMA Bass Player of the Year awards (Mark Schatz).  In addition, Lynch’s voice and songs can be found on records by Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstat, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Ralph Stanley, and many more.  www.clairelynch.com  Tickets:  $22/adults or $16/children

What do you get when you mix a young newlywed couple, an old British manor, a snowstorm and a variety of strong personalities?  An Agatha Christie Masterpiece!  Join the CSI Theatre Department as they suit up as Mollie and Giles Ralston,  mysterious Christopher Wren, the disagreeable Mrs. Boyle, Major Metcalf, Miss Casewell, Mr. Paravicini, and, of course, Det. Sgt Trotter and bring this timeless classic to life.  Be careful though, once all the players arrive, the murders will begin and only the murderer is safe from destruction. Is it “the butler”?  Or is the Honorable Sgt Trotter an interloper?  You won’t know unless you come see the final production of the 2012-2013 Season.  Tickets are $8/adults and $6 for students or seniors.
